The City of Fredericton recognizes the vital role non-profit organizations play in supporting our community's well-being. To help these organizations meet the transportation needs of their clients, the TFAP offers subsidized bus tickets.
Who Can Apply? Non-profit organizations in Fredericton are eligible to apply if they meet the following criteria:
- Registered Non-Profit/Charity: You must be a registered non-profit/Charitable organization in good standing.
- Fredericton Focus: Your organization must be based in Fredericton and deliver services primarily to Fredericton residents.
- Clear Mission and Governance: You must have a clearly defined purpose and function, along with an active Board of Directors.
- Inclusive Services: Your services should be accessible to the public in Fredericton without discrimination based on race, religion, language, etc. Exceptions are allowed if your services specifically target disadvantaged groups in accordance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
- Separation of Church and State: If you operate under a religious body, your community service programs and budgets must be clearly separated from religious activities.
- Demonstrated Need: You must demonstrate the value and need for the subsidized tickets, along with a clear plan for their use. You'll also need to show responsible management practices.
- No Duplication of Services: The TFAP is not intended to replace existing support provided by other government levels.
Evaluation and Accountability
- Ticket Usage Records: Organizations receiving tickets will be required to submit annual records detailing ticket usage. These records will be accounted in the TFAP Ticket Reporting Form. This will help us with program improvement.
- Returning Unused Tickets: Any organization with unused tickets at the end of the year must return them to GFSI for reallocation.
- Program Sustainability: The TFAP approval does not guarantee program continuation in future years. Additional conditions may be imposed as deemed necessary.
